That chit flies EVERYWHERE.You could take a REAL circular saw(15A worm drive) and cut that plate up quick and straight.Support it well. That plate shouldn't move at all.

Jul 13, 2010 I use a $4 blade from Lows. Carbide tiped 7-1/4" in a worm drive and have cut 2" plate 48 inchs wide. I cut half way from one side then flip it and cut through. Thin stuff you just cut like wood. I use 30 weight oil thined with WD-40 just to keep the aluminum from sticking to the blade. I also use my table saw, works great.

Aluminum cuts very nicely with a circular saw. Get yourself a new carbide-tipped blade (and some earplugs), clamp a guide to the plate on both sides of the saw, and lower the blade about 1cm past the metal. Push slowly. A well-used blade, or non-carbide blade, will do a spectacularly poor job.
